There were a lot of Christian girls sending around demo tapes of music like this several years back. But JJ Heller apparently stuck with it. This is her third independent release.
It’s not pop. It’s not rock or rap. Heller sounds like a lot of girls who are really good at what they do, and like these girls, she has a voice that speaks directly to individuals wherever they are in life.
She and her husband, Dave, have crafted a collection of spiritual, acoustic romance speckled with banjo, piano, cello and mandolin and layered in real talent.
Think early Jewel, think Lisa Loeb and Natalie Merchant, think even Alanis Morissette in her quiet moments and get ready to think about Jesus and His grace.
This is a great record. It is stripped to the essentials and amazingly filling.
