In the land down under, they like the Lord.

And while New Zealand is just slight of Australia proper, this band of Kiwis has a very proper introduction into mainstream American contemporary Christian music in “Fighting For You,” their Slanted Records debut.

It is a solid release — tight and emotional. It sounds very Christian-

­radio in some of its slower songs but the more up-tempo rockers have a very Foo Fighters feel, which is a good thing.

In fact, you can do a lot of good things with a five-piece band and make a lot of records. Detour180 will likely turn heads — if not 180 degrees, at least toward Christian bookstores.
