November CP gifts up from last year

Contributions through the Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC) Cooperative Program (CP) for November 2006 were $15,770,935.48.

This is 5.73 percent, or $854,827.32, above the $14,916,108.16 received in November 2005, according to a news release from SBC Executive Committee President and Chief Executive Officer Morris H. Chapman.

Year-to-date contributions are 1.06 percent ahead of the same time frame in 2005. As of Nov. 30, the year-to-date total of $31,129,891.03 for CP Missions is $327,140.36 ahead of the $30,802,750.67 received at the same point in 2005.

During the SBC’s last fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, CP gifts topped the $200-million mark for the first time, with the 2005–2006 fiscal year’s total of $200,601,536.29 marking a 2.37 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.

The CP is Southern Baptists’ method of supporting missions and ministry efforts of state and regional conventions and the SBC. (BP)
