Keep focus on God

Keep focus on God

I write in response to Jim Norton’s letter published in the Oct. 26 edition of The Alabama Baptist.

I’ve read the Bible through more than 20 times, and I have not found a dress code for worship nor for any other occasion for a Christian to observe.

Reverence in worship is not attained by how one dresses. Reverence comes from “revering God the Father” and focusing on Him during worship.

When we reached out to lost people while serving as church planters in Des Moines, Iowa, the main question we heard was, “What should I wear?” This question most often came from women.

The real issue is: are we more concerned about how people dress for worship or the final destiny of their souls?

Jesus went to where people were and ministered to them and welcomed them into the kingdom of God without any superficial or artificial prerequisites. Should we not do the same?
