The 2001 ministry focus of “Through every door” was affirmed by the strategic planning committee during the Alabama Baptist State Convention in Montgomery.
Tom Whatley, chairman of the committee and pastor of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals, brought the affirmation during the committee’s report to convention messengers.
In 1999 the strategic planning committee voted to focus on four ministry areas as part of the Great Commission Ministries. Those areas were: outreach, discipleship, leadership and cooperative ministries.
In regard to outreach ministries throughout the past year, 550 Alabama Baptist churches received intensive training for personal witnessing as part of the FAITH evangelism strategy. And the leadership ministries saw the establishment of the Alabama Baptist Center for Leadership Development which focuses on worship leadership and LeaderCare efforts. (TAB)
