Courage to Fight

Courage to Fight

Respectfully, I take issue with your comments on the revisions of the Baptist Faith and Message.

In the June 8 edition, you cite six tenets of our faith as being threatened by these revisions. Nothing in the proposed revisions threaten these doctrines. In fact, they only strengthen them. What is the clear and present danger here? Is it that Al Mohler (along with others) is right and they have the courage to continue the fight for soundness in doctrine?

Prove to us all how the revisions deny personal religion or direct access to God or equal access to God or equal standing before God or freedom of interpretation or religious liberty. What I fear more than these revisions is the agenda which proclaims that “priesthood of believer” means “expressive individualism” and that “if I can be or believe anything I interpret truth to be.” This is the new tolerance in biblical clothing (every opinion is equally valid).

If this is what is meant by “soul competency” and “priesthood of believers,” then God wasted His time giving us apostles and prophets and pastors and teachers and of course, the Bible. And if every interpretation is equally valid and is an illumination by God, then do you think God is this mixed up? Surely, Mr. Terry, you can do better than this.
