Brokenness

Brokenness

I remember growing up watching preachers use handkerchiefs to wipe tears from their eyes because of the brokenness that was in their spirit. These men of God were broken over lost souls, families torn apart and people not in fellowship with God.

They were hungry for God to move and restore the church (God’s people) back to fellowship with Him. I saw preachers cry for people that wouldn’t surrender to God. What great conviction they had on their hearts.

Now, 46 years old and 35 years later, I rarely see brokenness in the pulpits. Most preachers today use a handkerchief as a decoration for their coats.

We, as a church, need to buy some handkerchiefs and pray that God will bring brokenness back into our lives for lost souls and Kingdom work. When we are in a time of brokenness from God, we will need a handkerchief or a dry shirt sleeve.

I pray that we will let God break us again and that through this brokenness, revival will sweep this land once again.
