Despite a Sunday morning bombing that killed nine and injured 70 members, Grace Sonmin Church in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, celebrated its ninth anniversary in mid-November.
Held in the partially completed new Mission Center building, the annual Thanksgiving service drew an estimated 500 adults. The Oct. 1 bomb blast had collapsed the roof of the church’s original three-story structure. Construction crews worked to complete the new building before the winter snows set in.
Church sources have confirmed that there were four bombs set at the church site, although only two exploded.
Tajik police have arrested two of three suspects tied to a local Islamic institute that objected to the Korean Christian mission’s ministry among Muslims. (CD)
