Americans believe any religion is better than none

Americans believe the United States would be a better nation if people got more involved in religion — but they don’t care what religion.

That’s the conclusion of a study funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts.

The study by Pew Charitable Trusts found that 70 percent of Americans want religion’s influence on society to grow, and 76 percent said which faith grows doesn’t matter to them.

The study also found that 68 percent of Americans believe there is prejudice toward evangelical Christians.

Three out of four evangelicals said they believe that many journalists have a built-in bias against religion, a view shared by 56 percent of the general public.
