Dean Hudson has been in church service for years, diligently serving God in whatever area she was needed from administration to public relations to teaching Sunday School to leading women’s conferences on the home. Hudson and her husband are now in charge of the Wednesday night dinners at Thelma Baptist Church, Wetumpka.
Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: I was raised in the most wonderful Christian home in Bay Minette. We were taught the Word by memorizing and practicing Scripture. We were taught to love the Lord in all ways.
Q: How are you involved in your church now?
A: Jerry and I retired up here (Wetumpka). We prayed for a place to retire; we did not care what state. We prayed for the Lord to lead us. There is never a day that goes by where we don’t thank Him. The staff (at Thelma Baptist) had prayed for a couple who would be willing to do Wednesday night dinners. We knew that is what the Lord wanted us to do. We also do substitute teaching for the adult Sunday School class.
Q: What do you get from your ministries?
A: A peace and a joy from seeing the light bulb come on in someone who did not come from a Christian home. To see them realize, “I am not a second-class citizen but a child of a King.”
Q: What have been some of the demands of the ministry?
A: Being constantly on call. The constant demands and challenges of being able to meet physical and emotional needs in God’s way, while knowing I am doing it in a sweet spirit.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in church in the future?
A: As a servant. We are not on payroll; we are here to serve. We are right where the Lord planted us, and I want to bloom where He planted me.
