Alabama’s three Baptist institutions named among ‘Best Christian Colleges’

Alabama’s three Baptist colleges — Samford University in Birmingham, the University of Mobile and Judson College in Marion — were recently named among 130 of “America’s Best Christian Colleges.”

Institutional Research & Evaluation (IR&E) Inc. selected the list from a pool of 396 Christian higher education institutions based on which provide the highest educational quality in a Christian environment, according to Lewis T. Lindsey Jr., president of IR&E Inc.

The independent research and consulting organization, which specializes in the recruiting and retention of students for institutions of higher education, compiled the annual listing based on analysis and review of its 18th Annual National College Survey.

Among criteria for the list, an institution must be an accredited, four-year school that had an entering freshman class in Fall 2007 with a high school grade point average or SAT/ACT score at or above the national average for all freshmen entering Christian institutions of higher education.

Other Alabama schools chosen for the honor were Huntingdon College in Montgomery and Spring Hill College in Mobile. (TAB)
