“Aware,” the sixth studio album for Latin music-influenced jam band Salvador, is as fantastic as it is difficult to categorize.

Fronted by Nic Gonzalez — new husband to Jaci Velasquez who co-wrote the great song “Llevame” — the group is back with its trademark grooves: a fusion of Latin pop, rock and funk in the vein of Santana and Los Lobos. The sound is joyously upbeat, crafted with a musical dexterity superb enough to extend a know-it-when-you-hear-it spontaneity through all 11 tracks. “Aware” is hard to describe, easy to listen to.
