Slow Down
Autumn Records

Matt McPherson is mostly known for letting other folks play his innovative guitars, but that’s all about to change. Along with his wife, Sherry, he has released “Slow Down,” a 13-song collection of easy-listening worship music.

Matt McPherson, who by inventing the single-cam bow revolutionized the bow-hunting industry, is well on the way to doing the same with acoustic guitars. And because of that, the title track rings of classic Steven Curtis Chapman, who, as it happens, is just one of the many artists currently embracing the new sound of McPherson Guitars. The album has a definite country-bent — especially the Sherry-fronted songs — but the final word on the “Slow Down” sound is hard to pin down. It’s part country, part adult contemporary, part worship, part really, really good.
