Cole, Frank Joseph

Frank Joseph Cole, a retired Alabama Baptist pastor, died Nov. 2. He was 79.

Born in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Jefferson County, Tenn., Cole was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War.

A graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, he was ordained into the ministry in 1969.

In Alabama, Cole served as pastor of Kellyton Baptist Church in Central Baptist Association and Bay Springs Baptist Church, Shelby, in Shelby Baptist Association. He also served as pastor of Baptist churches in Pennsylvania and Mississippi until his retirement in 1989.

More recently, Cole was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbiana, in Shelby Association.

Cole was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Bessie Cole; one sister; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Cole; three daughters; one son; and 10 grandchildren. (TAB)
