Longtime Alabama preacher William “Bill” J. Nugent died April 21. He was 74.
During his more than 40 years in the ministry, Nugent served churches throughout Alabama. After his retirement, he served as pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, Cleveland, for the past eight years.
Nugent also served as moderator of Friendship Baptist Association.
Nugent also served on the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions executive committee for several years.
A Samford University graduate, he taught in the university’s Howard Extension Program.
Nugent is survived by his wife, Nellie; five daughters; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. (TAB)
