Alan Sentell is currently the interim pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Gaylesville. Sentell is a bivocational minister who also builds turkey calls. His Web site (www.newmoongamecalls.com) also posts the plan of salvation for visitors. But Sentell’s true calling is the prison ministry in which he participates weekly.

Q: Why have you participated in prison ministry?
A: This is my calling. I’m as at home there as I am in my own home.

Q: How does the prison ministry work, and what do you do?
A: The prison ministry is every Monday night. I have church in a chapel there. I have been teaching and preaching discipleship.

Q: What do you get from the ministry?
A: Anytime you serve the Lord with your heart, you’re rewarded. My reward is being able to see the growth of the ones who’ve been saved. It’s what I look forward to each week.

Q: What led you to do prison ministry?
A: One Sunday, I was doing my devotion in Matthew 24 and 25 where Jesus talks about those in prison. It was extremely clear that that was my calling.

Q: How do other family members support you?
A: My wife supports me. She realizes this is God’s calling for me.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?
A: I will be in this ministry until the Lord takes me home or until they shut me down and lock me out.
