Disaster relief teams from Alabama continue to assist ice-storm victims in Bardwell, Ky., and will likely be there for a few more weeks, according to Tommy Puckett, Alabama Baptist disaster relief director.
About eight more teams from the state were expected to join those already in place in Bardwell on Feb. 14.
Other Alabama Baptist teams serving in the Richmond, Danville and Lancaster areas of Kentucky pulled out Feb. 11 after about a week of cleanup and recovery work there.
“They only left about six jobs undone, but due to the weather (forecast of storms), they felt like it would be best to leave earlier than planned so as not to drive through the storms,” Puckett said.
Overall the work in Kentucky has gone “very, very well,” he said. “It’s been a great experience for our people, and our teams have spoken very admirably about the hospitality of the Kentucky people.” (TAB)
