Longtime Alabama pastor Frank Carswell McWhirter died April 21. He was 79.
During his more than 50 years of pastoral ministry, McWhirter served churches in Alabama and Texas. The Alabama churches he served included Ridgecrest Baptist, Birmingham; Falkville Baptist; Providence Baptist, Gallion; First Baptist, New Brockton; Milton Baptist, Jones; Brierfield Baptist; and First Baptist, Georgiana.
McWhirter served in the Navy during World War II. He later earned a bachelor’s degree at Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and a divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
McWhirter is survived by wife Myrtle, three daughters and three grandchildren. (TAB)
