More than 400 convene at camp for RA Congress

More than 400 boys, parents and leaders gathered March 13–14 at Camp Grandview in Prattville for the annual Royal Ambassador (RA) Congress. The RAs came from 40 Alabama Baptist churches spread as far north as Albertville and as far south as Spanish Fort.

“Usually over 30 field events like archery, air rifles, tomahawk throwing, horseshoes, log saw, foot races as well as football, baseball and frisbee throwing are enjoyed Saturday morning, but due to the rain, only the inside events were possible,” said Steve Stephens, an associate in the office of men’s ministries and disaster relief at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.

During the weekend, the groups participated in activities such as a climbing wall and missionary displays. Also, 264 cars competed in a pinewood derby.

Outstanding RAs were also honored — fourth-grader Paul Lowery and fifth-grader Hunter Henson, both of Providence Baptist, Opelika; fifth-grader William Pickett of Southside Baptist, Ozark; and fourth-grader Holt Watson of Morgan Baptist, Skipperville. (TAB)
