$72 million project approved at Princeton

Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham has jumped a big hurdle toward starting a $72 million expansion and renovation project.

Recently the project was unanimously approved by the Alabama Certificate of Need Review Board.

The major building project includes the renovation of 60,000 square feet of existing space — primarily the renovation of the hospital’s 16 surgery suites — and the addition of 90,000 square feet, including surgical recovery space as well as improved patient and visitor access.

“Clearly this is very good news, and we are excited about the State Certificate of Need Review Board’s unanimous approval of Princeton’s expansion plans,” said President Keith Parrott. “This campus expansion will allow us to continue the high level of care our patients expect and deserve, and we anticipate breaking ground in late 2009.”

The project is the first capital investment of this scale that Princeton, the first Baptist Health System hospital, has had in more than 30 years. (BHS)
