Debbie Kornegay of Centreville has been named recipient of the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) 2006 Personal Achievement Award for Alabama.
Kornegay has been involved with MDA since childhood, when she was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at age 2.
A former Ms. Wheelchair America/Alabama, she is currently an instructor of accounting at Judson College in Marion and continues to champion the causes of those with disabilities through her work with many different civic groups.
Begun in 1992, the national awards program recognizes the accomplishments and community service of people with one of the diseases in MDA’s program. (JC)
