The University of Mobile (UM) elite vocal ensemble, VOICES of Mobile, is spreading the message of Jesus Christ through song this summer in places ranging from the Jordan River in Israel to the Southern Baptist Convention Pastors Conference in Louisville, Ky.
The 16-member group traveled to Israel June 2–17 and is set to return to cap off its tour at the Pastors Conference June 21–22.
The group has presented impromptu open-air concerts at historic Christian sites in Jerusalem and Jordan, sung at schools and churches in the Holy Land and performed at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
“It’s a musical, educational and spiritual experience,” said Al Miller, associate dean of the UM Center for Performing Arts. “No doubt, it is music missions, because we are using our God-given talents to share the gospel through music. In addition, the educational and spiritual experience is simply immeasurable. To see the Middle East, to trace the footsteps of Jesus from Bethlehem to Calvary, this is where the Bible comes alive.
