Burks, Gilbert

Gilbert Burks, retired director of missions (DOM) for Marshall Baptist Association, died April 26. He was 91.

After graduating from Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, Burks went on to serve as pastor of several churches before accepting the role of DOM for Marshall Association, where he served 27 years (1955–1982).

Burks is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hilda; two sons; one daughter; and five grandchildren. (TAB)
