Campers on Mission (COM) will hold its national rally at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds in Winston-Salem, N.C., June 7–9.
The North American Mission Board sponsors COM with a goal of bringing Christian campers together for fellowship, sharing and missions. The theme of the rally will be SOAR with the SON. Scheduled speakers include Jim Akins, interim pastor of West Asheville Baptist Church, Asheville, N.C., and Kenneth Hemphill, former president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and current strategist for the Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC) Empowering Kingdom Growth emphasis.
Milton Hollifield, who will be nominated as executive director-treasurer for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSC) April 11, is also on the program. Hollifield is currently executive team leader for the BSC’s Mission Growth Evangelism group.
Guitarist Richard Kiser and other musicians will perform concerts and lead worship music.
North Carolina COM President Jim Camp said the meeting is scheduled so participants can join in activities related to CrossOver Triad, an outreach effort designed to coincide with the SBC annual meeting, which will meet in nearby Greensboro June 13–14.
Registration forms and more information are available at www.comnatrally2006.org, from state COM presidents or by e-mailing comnatrally2006@yahoo.com. Joyce Camp, who is coordinating the rally, can be reached at 336-407-3250. (Wire services)
