“New Day Dawning” is the latest recording from a group that seems to be always hanging around near the top of the airplay charts, The Whisnants.

And based on the song selection that went into this recording, Jeff, Susan, Aaron and Eric are not going to stray from that pinnacle. Songwriters like Rodney Griffin, Marcia Henry, Rebecca J. Peck, Chris Binion and Ronnie Hinson — just to name a few — have contributed several fine songs, as have David Jenkins, Joel Lindsay, Sandy Blythe, Monty Lane Allen, William Allbritton and Steve Spurlin. The efforts of all those writers, combined with excellent production and strong attention to arrangements and vocals, help to make “New Day Dawning” probably the finest Whisnants recording to date. Be forewarned, though; you’ll have a hard time picking a favorite song.
