Cross Culture has a flair for alliteration and eclectic rock ‘n’ roll. Unlike the garish cameos of early Christian ska and its offshoots, horns dart and weave throughout this record like they’re equal members of the family and know their way around the house.

And, for the most part, it works. While some songs are less accessible than others, this three-piece outfit deserves praise for a fresh synthesis of styles old and new. “Proof Positive” won’t make your child swear off punk shows or even Top 40 radio, but it’s good enough to at least start the dialogue on Christian alternatives to popular bands with names like Alien Ant Farm and 311.

Selectric continues to release a quality product.
