Donna Faye Scott Rogers, director of preschool and children’s ministries at First Baptist Church, Alabaster, died July 30. She was 39.
A native of Fultondale, Rogers graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1990.
In addition to serving on staff at the Shelby Baptist Association church for six years, she taught Discipleship Training, worked in the nursery and coached Upward cheerleading.
Rogers also served in her community through the cheer board of the Alabaster Parks & Recreation’s Thompson Youth Football Association.
“Donna Rogers was passionate about ministering to children and their families,” said Neil Knierim, senior pastor of First, Alabaster. “She was an inspiration to all who knew her and watched her live out this passion while battling cancer. She left a tremendous legacy that impacted her family, our church and our community. She epitomized Paul’s words in 2 Timothy when he declared that in spite of all the challenges he experienced, he kept the faith. Donna certainly fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.”
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Lee; two daughters; and parents, Gene and Faye Scott. (TAB)
