Members of Maranatha Baptist Church, Rainsville, in DeKalb Baptist Association traveled to Carnegie, Okla., July 3–11 to do missions work at Faith Indian Baptist Church.
Maranatha Baptist, which averages about 80 on Sunday mornings, had 21 members participate in the trip, led by Pastor Keith Atchley.
The missions team did construction work on Faith Indian Baptist’s bathroom facilities, hosted Vacation Bible School (VBS) and held a revival. Several senior adult women from Maranatha ministered by cooking the meals for the team during the week.
Atchley said one of the first concerns in planning for the trip was a financial one. “However, our mighty God was already at work even in the little details,” he said.
Every team member was able to go to Oklahoma with no out-of-pocket expense primarily because Maranatha’s members gave faithfully to the church’s missions fund for more than a year, Atchley said.
He proclaimed the trip a “huge success.” In addition to the one salvation decision during VBS, the team was able to encourage George Daingkau, pastor of Faith Indian Baptist.
“The revival became a time of encouragement for Brother George and his wife as we witnessed God re-energize them with passion to reach their community,” Atchley said.
