Is it the smooth, almost “Drift Away” feel to it that makes “Sometimes I Cry,” the seventh track off Jason Crabb’s solo debut, sound so familiar? Or is it just because, lyrically, it sounds so perfectly, poignantly country  — “I watch Christian TV. I know all the preachers, their clichés. I’ve been born again, without a doubt I know I’m saved. But sometimes I hurt, sometimes I cry” — that you can’t imagine it not already being a mainstream hit? Either way, the reasons behind Crabb, former powerhouse lead vocalist for The Crabb Family, going it on his own are obvious — because he can. And when laced with guest vocals by Vince Gill, The Gaither Vocal Band and Sonya Isaacs, his first step in his own shoes is well worth your attention.
