GATE Program Gets Adult Students Closer to Bachelor’s Degree

The University of Mobile (UM) is offering the GATE program, or Gaining Advancement Through Education, to adult students wishing to further their education. Participating students may receive an associate in science degree, which can be the first step to earning a four-year undergraduate bachelor’s degree.

“The GATE program allows adult students to gain a marketable associate’s degree with a concentration in industrial management in a reasonable length of time while progressing toward their bachelor’s degree,” said Pamela Buchanan, dean of the Center for Adult Programs at UM.

She added, “The schedule is very flexible and allows working adults to be enrolled full time, attending class one night a week and one Saturday a month.”

People interested in enrolling in the GATE program may contact the Center for Adult Programs at 251-442-2558 or e-mail Lona Brown, enrollment coordinator for the Center for Adult Programs, at Lbrown@umobile.edu.
