One Alabama Baptist disaster relief team is still working in the Atlanta area to help victims of flooding in late September.
A mud-out team from Judson and Covington Baptist associations is working to clean out the flood-damaged homes of those without homeowner’s insurance.
And more teams could be called back to help as the cleanup process moves into the long term, said Ronnie Warren, Alabama Baptists’ disaster relief coordinator.
“The work is big. The homes there aren’t just slightly flooded — they’re a lot flooded,” Warren said.
Mel Johnson, disaster relief strategist for Alabama Baptists, said the teams who have cycled in and out since the flood have seen good results. “We’ve had good opportunities to talk with the homeowners, and folks are very grateful for the participation and effort that’s taken place,” he said.
