Daniel E. Edmonds of Montgomery has been chosen to lead Sunday School work for the Alabama Baptist State Convention. Edmonds’ appointment as director of the office Sunday School was unanimously approved May 18 by the State Board of Missions (SBOM). He succeeds Andrew L. Smith, who will retire Sept. 15.
For the past five years Edmonds has served as an associate in the office of Sunday School. Rick Lance, executive director-treasurer for the SBOM, said Edmonds “has done an exemplary job at the associate position” and added, “he is ready for this assignment.”
Edmonds, a specialist in FAITH Sunday School Evangelism, is a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and previously served as associate pastor at four churches. First Baptist, Enterprise; First Baptist, Arab; Sherwood Baptist, Huntsville; and Smithfield Baptist, Smithfield, Smithfield, Ky.
A member of Vaughn Forest Baptist Church in Montgomery, Edmonds and his wife, Terri, have two children.
