Iona Gillespie Fontaine received the 2010 Alumnae Loyalty Award on April 10 at Judson College’s annual J-Day celebration.
Fontaine, a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Montgomery, graduated from Judson in 1935 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
The award is given each year to an alumna recognized by her peers and the executive board as having supported the work of the college through involvement in her local alumnae chapter, participating in campus activities and serving as a mentor to others through community involvement.
“Iona Fontaine is deservedly recognized for her more than 75 years of devotion to her alma mater,” said Judson President David Potts. “Her constant advocacy for Christian higher education in behalf of young women has been an important part of a truly remarkable life.”
