Prestigious Megginson Awards Presented to Three U-Mobile Emplyees

The 2010 Megginson awards were recently presented to three University of Mobile (UMobile) faculty and staff members at the university’s spring employee luncheon.

These are the most prestigious employee awards at UMobile and are given every year to full-time faculty and staff who have made certain contributions to the teaching and betterment of the university.

The William A. Megginson Teaching Award was presented to Cynthia Biegler, chair of the department of early childhood education in the school of education. The Mitford Ray Megginson Research Award was presented to Mihaela Buhaiciuc, assistant professor of music in the Center for Performing Arts (CPA). The Emma Frances Megginson Service Award was presented to Lisa Normand Davis, administrative assistant in the CPA.

The individuals who received the Megginson awards were nominated by students, faculty and staff of the university.

Also honored were UMobile employees with 25 years of service: Vicki Burgin, director of campus operations; Jane Byrd, professor of management and accounting in the school of business; and Ted Mashburn, associate dean of the college of arts and sciences.
