Alabama CBF spring meeting set for April 28

The Alabama Cooperative Baptist Fellowship will hold its spring meeting April 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Riverchase Baptist Church in Hoover.

The theme for the meeting is “Creating Healthy Communities: Examining Congregational Health Ministry.”

Topics include “Congregational Health Ministry: What Does It Mean?, “Parish Nursing: Ministering to Congregation and Community,” “Ministering Through Care Teams,” “Sowing Seeds of Hope: Health Update from Perry County,” “Developing Healthy Leaders for Healthy Congregations” and a panel discussion on “Congregations Engaged in Parish Nursing and Other Health Ministries.”

The speakers are D. Randal Walton, chaplain with Birmingham’s Baptist Health System; Gretchen S. McDaniel, associate professor of nursing at Samford University” Malcom Marler director of The Care Team Network; Mickey Trimm, president and principal consultant with J.M. Trimm and Associates; Cristy Kennedy, Alabama’s first parish nurse; Beth Paramore, parish nurse at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church, Birmingham; Rosetta L. Richards, parish nurse at Southside Baptist Church, Birmingham; Steve Jones, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, Birmingham, U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions has been asked to speak but his appearance is not confirmed.

Organizers said the meeting will attempt to broaden participants’ understanding of holistic health and health care ministries.
