Peyton “Pete” Walker, former moderator for Mobile and Baldwin associations, passed away July 14. He was 92.
Walker was a deacon for 40 years at First Baptist, Mobile; Ruhama Baptist, Birmingham; and First Baptist, Fairhope.
He was board chairman for Alabama Baptist Retirement Centers from 1975 to 1987.
Later in his life, Walker was involved with Alabama’s deacon training program.
A former chairman of the regional fund-raising campaign for Mobile Association for Mobile College (now the University of Mobile), Walker was later a trustee for the university. (TAB)
