Bible knowledge

In your editorial comments of Jan. 11, I, like you, was disappointed to see the statistics of how little we self described Christians really know about the Bible and its teachings. I would like to correct one point where you said that the primary task of the Sunday School is to teach the Bible. Really, as stated in times past, the primary task of the Sunday School is to teach the biblical revelation.

If we cannot apply the Scripture to everyday life I fear we have missed the point. This folds in with your comments regarding the priesthood of the believer and soul competency. In truth, it is not the pastor, pulpiteer or the Sunday School teacher that formulate out beliefs, but it is the responsibility of each individual under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
