Woodruff, Franklin Eugene ‘Gene’

Franklin Eugene “Gene” Woodruff, a retired Alabama pastor, died Aug. 23. He was 76.

A graduate of Samford University in Birmingham and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Woodruff served as a pastor for 33 years. He held pastorates at Sister Springs Baptist Church, Tyler; New Bethel Baptist Church, Bragg; Calvary Baptist Church, Dothan; and churches in Georgia and Louisiana.

After retiring in 2000, Woodruff served as a supply preacher until his health declined. At the time of his death, he was a member of Memphis Baptist Church, Dothan.

A Georgia native, Woodruff served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 before being called to the ministry in 1964.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma Dianne; four children; nine grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren.  (TAB)
