For This Time

You’ve heard the expression “jack-of-all-trades.” Tribute Quartet explores a range of styles under the traditional male quartet umbrella.
“For This Time” gets under way with a light midtempo swing song titled “I Love Living in Grace.” Tribute’s version is similar to Liberty Quartet’s. Up next is a slightly more aggressive track titled “I’ve Been Blessed.” “Calvary Wins Again” follows with piano and strings on the first verse and a slow build to a fully orchestrated ending. “That’s Why I Love Him So” is slow-paced with a predictable lyric but good harmony on the choruses.
“He Said That” pulls out all the stops with an arrangement featuring hot guitar fills. Baritone Josh Singletary is featured on a subdued ballad titled “That’s What Makes Grace So Amazing.” There’s an Old West mood throughout “His Tomb Is Empty” with a chorus that shifts between major and minor tonal centers.
“For This Time” includes five more songs for 12 total. “For This Time” is a strong CD, but there’s room for improvement in the areas of song selection and pacing. The group sounds great vocally, and the production quality is very good. Tribute will only get better as they continue to refine their skills.
