Shine
Big Ten House of Music
I’m sure The Bowling Family was a bit nervous as they started working on “Shine,” the follow-up to the hit-packed “Faith to Believe.” Not to worry! “Shine” is worthy of carrying the Bowling name.
I appreciate the fact that Mike and Kelly Bowling, along with Kelly’s sister and former Crabb Family band mate Terah Crabb-Penhollow, keep it “Southern.” This is a southern gospel album with a splash of Hinson-like country — and that’s Mike’s sweet spot.
With 13 songs, there are lots of favorites to choose from. My favorites include “How Blessed,” “Sailing on Home,” “Tell Them That I Love Them,” “Pray Anyway,” “Half That’s Never Been Told,” “He’s Leading Me Each Step of the Way” and “I Still Glory in the Cross.”
Lots of good songs from today’s best songwriters, stellar singing with top-notch production, make “Shine” another fine release carrying the Bowling name!
