Barbara Anne Davis has taught Sunday School for almost 50 years. Thirty-five of those years were dedicated to teaching senior citizens.

Q: What was your childhood like?
A: I grew up on a farm, where we had a lot of chores to do. I was the oldest of seven, and family, school and church were the main things in our life. My mother was very special and had a great influence on my life … because of her strong relationship to God.

Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: My biggest influence was my mom because she talked to me about knowing the Lord. I was saved at a revival at our church.

Q: How have you been involved in church through the years?
A: I have taught Sunday School since 1961, almost 50 years. I started teaching high school girls, and then, when I was 35, I started teaching senior citizens.

Q: What do you get from this ministry?
A: I enjoy the ladies that are in my class, and it keeps me grounded in the Scripture.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in church in the future?
A: I’ll probably stay with this class until I’m gone. … I suspect that I’ll still do what I’ve always done, whatever they need me to do.

Q: What difference has being a Christian made in your life?
A: A world of difference. I was 13 or 14 when I was saved, and I grew up in a Christian home, which was a huge advantage. When you see society and the pitfalls of the world, it’s only by being a Christian that you have the strength to stay away from some of those things out there.
