I am responding to Gary Furr’s remarks make concerning Jerry Vines at the Southern Baptist Convention about Islam. Mr. Furr tends to think that they and others should not speak out against Islam or its leaders. Well, Vines and Rev. Jack Graham didn’t say anything that was not fact and truth. People don’t like to hear the truth sometimes. We Christians have taken a back seat too long on not standing up against sin and wrong-doings.
If we are to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, then we can expect to make people mad and cause them to want to run us out of town and maybe even crucify us for the truth. If Jesus was living on earth today, I am sure He would love the Islam people, but I am pretty sure that Jesus would not accept their ways. Vines seems to me to be a Jesus follower. It’s time for Christians to take a stand and preach a confrontational gospel; if they are going to be like Jesus.
