State Baptist paper welcomes Fuson as news writer

Neisha Fuson has joined The Alabama Baptist as a news writer.

A native of Alabama Baptists’ partner state of Michigan, Fuson returned to the United States in August 2010 after having served two years in Chiang Mai, Thailand, as an International Mission Board (IMB) journeyman. While in Thailand, she was in charge of recording the work being done by IMB representatives through photographs and videos.

Fuson is a graduate of Union University in Jackson, Tenn., where she served as a photographer for the Cardinal & Cream student newspaper. During her time at Union, she also served as an online newspaper adviser for The Jackson Sun.

Fuson graduated in 2008 with a bachelor of arts in Christian studies with a minor in photojournalism.

Before going to Union, she attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., where she served as a university newspaper photographer.

“We are excited Neisha has decided to join our staff,” said Jennifer Davis Rash, The Alabama Baptist’s managing editor. “She is a devoted Christian with a sweet spirit and has won all of our hearts already. I think Alabama Baptists are going to love her.

“Neisha brings with her strong communication skills, especially in photography, videography and social media. With the launch of our online edition, Neisha will play an important role in helping us continue to grow and develop in the ever-changing methods of communication while also maintaining the strength of the print edition as we share what God is doing through Alabama Baptists at home and around the world.”

At the state Baptist paper, Fuson’s responsibilities include news and feature writing as well as assisting with photography, videography, social media, the online edition, layout and design and various special projects.

“I’m thankful [God has] led me here to The Alabama Baptist, and I’m excited to see what new things He will teach me along the way,” Fuson said.

“It does my heart good to be a part of letting others know what God is doing in this state, country and world and to hopefully encourage, inspire and make people aware of ways they can pray.

“I’m certainly glad to be away from the frozen land of Michigan and into this warmer place I want to someday call ‘Sweet Home Alabama.’”  (TAB)
