Q.P. Davis, former pastor of several Baptist churches in the state and former Sunday School director for Marshall Baptist Association, died Feb. 27. Davis, a Birmingham resident and Albertville native, was 83.
Davis served as a pastor at Chalmette Baptist Church, Chalmette, La.; First Baptist Church, Pell City; Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Albertville; and Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Guntersville.
He also served as a consultant for the State Sunday School Board, which along with his associational work, earned him the title “Mr. Sunday School” throughout Sand Mountain.
Davis and his wife of 54 years, Willie Mae Davis, were members of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Birmingham.
He is survived by his wife, his daughter Sheila K. Davis of Birmingham and three sisters, Lillian Gray of Samson, Fannie Mae Blair of Kingston and Annie Lee Cooper of Elba.
He was preceded in death by his son Pat Davis of Albertville.
