Tuscaloosa to host writers’ conference

First Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, will serve as host of the June 20-21 Southern Christian Writers Conference (SCWC).

Designed for writers with all levels of experience, the SCWC will include instruction on writing and publishing books, magazine articles, novels and other topics.

Sessions cater to writers interested in both Christian and secular publishing.

Speakers include Don Aycock, author; Barbara Joiner, author; Jennifer Davis Rash, managing editor of The Alabama Baptist; Irene Brand, author; Denny Boultinghouse, executive editor of Howard Publishing; Sammie Barstow, free-lance magazine writer; Aileen Henderson, author; Mary Cavender Hood, poet; Paula Kirk, Journey editor; Delbert Reed, newspaper columnist and author; William Singleton, metro editor of The Birmingham Post-Herald; David Sloan, journalism professor and author; and Cheryl Wray, freelance writer and author.
