Southern Baptist missionary and Huntsville native Melody Graham and her husband, David, were recently injured in an automobile accident in Kosovo, where they have been serving on their second assignment as International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries for the past year.
According to IMB reports issued the last week of February, the couple both suffered injuries and were hospitalized. David received a few broken ribs as did Melody who also experienced a broken collar and cheek bone. She is being evacuated to Germany for further medical care.
The Grahams, who became international missionaries in 1981, served until 1999 in Roseau, Dominica, where David practiced dentistry.
They were reassigned in 2000 to Central and Eastern Europe, where David continues to serve as a dentist.
Prior to becoming missionaries the Grahams lived in Bowling Green, Ky., where David had a private dental practice.
Melody holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Montevallo and served as a Baptist Student Union summer missionary in Alabama. David received a doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Louisville (Ky.) School of Dentistry. They both attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.
In addition to his ministry as a dentist in Kosovo, David works with computer graphics for church posters, literature and graphics while Melody teaches reading to adults, piano lessons and Lamaze childbirth coaching as part of her evangelism outreach.
