Someone You Should Know — Glen Vinson

Glen Vinson is someone you should know because he has participated in every missions trip coordinated by the Franklin Baptist Association for 22 consecutive years.

Q: Why have you participated in missions trips for so many years?

A: The first one I went on, my father kind of encouraged me and said you need to go. I just loved it and have been going ever since because I feel like the Lord is still leading me to go.

Q: What does the missions work you do for Franklin Association demand of you?

A: It’s a hard week. What I do is lead the electrical crew and that’s not what I do for a living. I sell groceries for a living.

Q: What do you get from it?

A: A great blessing. Wonderufl satisfaction. It’s just a great feeling to know that I’ve had a small part in what’s going on there now. You find out there are good Christian people all over the country. It’s like a big family reunion once a year. We work hard but we have fun.

Q: How do other family members support you?

A: A lot of times in the past my family has gone with me. The last few trips my wife hasn’t been able to go, but she is real cheerful about it and helps me get everything ready to go.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?

A: I want to keep doing it until the Lord tells me not to. As long as I have the health to keep going and the means to go. I am going to go.

Q: What difference will these missions trips make for you in the future?

A: Almost without fail it helps you become more dedicated to the Lord, and it helps you see local opportunities. It helped me to really appreciate what we have at our own church.
