Jack Brown is minister of outreach and evangelism for Carrolls Creek Baptist Church, Northpart, and has spent about 44 years in ministry. The 75-year-old Brown ministers through the Christian Ministry Center and Good Samaritan Clinic, both in Tuscaloosa, and as a pulpit supply preacher. He was recently named Northport Religious Leader of the Year of 2005 at the Northport Citizen of the Year awards banquet.
Q: What led you to ministry?
A: I just love people and one of the gifts I have is talking to people about the Lord. It’s just a lifestyle for me. I call it being “soul conscious.”
Q: Why have you continued this activity?
A: God has been with me and He has encouraged me. I think God wants me to do this.
Q: What does this ministry demand?
A: It demands time but this is what I enjoy doing.
Q: What do you get from the ministry?
A: I get satisfaction out of helping people and seeing people saved.
Q: How do your family members support you?
A: 100 percent. My wife and children believe in what I’m doing.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in ministry in the future?
A: I hope I can continue as long as I’m able.
Q: What difference will this ministry make for you in the future?
A: It gives me something to look forward to. When I’m doing ministry, I feel fulfilled. I feel like I’m doing something for the kingdom of God.
