Retired Alabama Baptist pastor Vick dies
Retired Alabama Baptist pastor Robert (Bob) J. Vick died Jan. 30. He was 78 and had served Alabama Baptist churches as pastor for 48 years.
Vick, a native of Laurel, Miss., was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, Rainsville, at the time of his death. He served twice as moderator of Sand Mountain Association and was the association’s evangelism chairman.
He was a member of the executive board of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions while serving as pastor of Sand Rock Baptist Church, Collinsville. He also served churches in several other northeast Alabama cities.
Vick worked at the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries until his retirement in 1990.
Vick was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Octavia Vick of Rainsville; a daughter and son-in-law; two grandchildren; a sister, sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
