Retired Alabama DOM, pastor Hubert Windham dies

Former North Jefferson Association director of missions (DOM) and retired pastor Hubert Windham died Nov. 3. He was 74.

A resident of Hayden at the time of his death, Windham was North Jefferson Association DOM 1972-1993.

He held one of the longest DOM tenures of the association, according to Steve Loggins, the association’s current DOM. During those 21 years Windham gave the association “solid leadership and set it on a firm financial and spiritual foundation on which we have been able to build,” Loggins said.

Windham was also pastor of Alabama Baptist churches in the early to mid-1960s, including Camp Hill Baptist Church, Parrish, and Oakman Central Baptist Church, Oakman.

He was also pastor of churches in Georgia and Louisiana and was a 1968 graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Windham is survived by his wife, Norma Sue Windham, one son, two daughters and six grandchildren, as well as his siblings, nieces and nephews.
